Spring is here and so are Del’s Torture Tualatin Tuesdays.
When Sandy Earl was coaching me for my first Furnace Creek 508, she told me about Del’s Tuesday rides and that they will rip my lungs out and that is what I needed. She was right. Now, five years later, I am back riding with Del on Tuesday night.
I have no illusions about being in the same shape as when I first started riding with Del, so I have decided to join the ‘early’ group, also known as the ‘Retired Lawyers’ group. So right at 5:30 I rolled into the Tualatin City Park and met up with them. They remembered me as asked if I was slow enough to ride with them. I said no problem.
Four of us headed south out of town through the suburban housing to the country side southeast of town. After a short stretch of busy Stafford Road, we turned south on Mountain Road, to Advance Road and back into suburbia. Passing through Wilsonvile we came up to Grahams Ferry Road where we turned northward and back to the City Park. In doing so, we short cutted the intended route, but we also miss a rain shower that the 6:00 pm folks got to ride through!
